people who make you feel better about yourself when you’re sad are so important

How the hell do you just get me?

Seriously, you are amazing and wonderful and I’m so so lucky to have you in my life, Chrissy. We’re not even in the same country, continent or time zone and we’ve only met once in person but somehow even with my mess of words, can read me like a book. And just through simple words, you can make me cry as I feel so loved. I’m seriously blessed.

Bang Bang Bangity Bang

"Hi. I’m Ted Mosby. In exactly forty-five days from now, you and I are gonna meet. And we’re gonna fall in love. And we’re gonna get married, and… we’re gonna have two kids. And we’re gonna love them and each other so much. All of that is forty-five days away. But I’m here now, I guess, because I want those extra forty-five days. With you, I want each one of them. […] Because… I love you. I’m always gonna love you. ‘Til the end of my days, and beyond.

do you ever get in one of those moods where you’re like feeling okay but you’re really sad at the same time and you just want to talk to someone and make them hug you but you feel annoying so you kind of just sit there being really sad

you know, what is one of the saddest things for me in the himym finale? lily. what about her career? her art? now she is reduced into a mom having three childs, a man and no job. that isnt lily! only with marvin she wasnt able to manage that all and now? the real lily just disappears. thats so sad. the wirters destroyed every single character in just... 20 minutes? we dont deserved that. we lived with them. we cried with them, and thats the thanks?

the writers just destroyed EVERY one of their main characters in a blink of an eye. it’s like those 9 years meant nothing to them.

Yup, it’s sad that Lily didn’t get her finale. The finale wasn’t great but I guess I can appreciate how they wanted to stay true to their original script. I know that HIMYM’s always tried to be more “realistic” and tells the truth about real life, but I just felt cheated. For one, this isn’t real life; it’s a sitcom and a finale should provide closure and leave the audience feeling like we’re on a high. Maybe the Ted/Robin ending would have been acceptable if we had had more time to process it. But like most people have said, it’s the fact that they misled us for so long with the Barney/Robin and Ted/Tracy plot that makes me kinda mad. Why lead us on for so long and destroy everything in a few minutes without so much explanation? I know they think it was clever to do a plot twist, but that wasn’t a plot twist, that was insanity.

The main issue I think was timing (as Robin would said, “Timing’s a bitch.”). They have 22 minutes/episode to fit EVERYTHING in so of course, some things couldn’t be included. Josh said: “They cut a scene that Cobie and I shot between Ted and robin. I thought it was a really important scene and I talked to Carter and Craig about it.” When someone asked Aly about Marshall winning the bet against Lily about who Ted would end up with, Aly said: “They cut it :(((” Who knows that else they cut? If they had left it in, maybe we would have been more open and positive to the ending.

There were so many things left unanswered, even without the WTF ending. Did the Mother/Tracy end poverty as she hoped? How did Marshall save the environment? What’s the name of the mother of Barney’s baby? (you cannot be telling me #31 is enough). How did the Mother die?

I just feel like they were trying to wow and surprise us with a million twists and turns in the finale. One thing that bugs me is that there were a lot of filler episodes during season 9, where they could easily have answered some of these questions (and more questions that I can’t think of now) but they tried to cram it all into the final episode.

I always thought that Carter Bays and Craig Thomas were brilliant, but I think this time they were a bit too close to the picture and couldn’t see what they’d created over the last few seasons. They always had their vision of how they wanted to end the series and I think they lost sight of the characters they’d created in the interim.
